‘Drawing Pousão’

Henrique Pousão Drawing Pousão’  was a  pilot project organized by the Portuguese Visual Art Teachers Association APECV and carried out in partnership with the Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis ,  a Museum in Porto, Portugal . The project was part of the programme launched by APECV: Arts, Education and Communities which intends to create learning partnerships between formal and non formal art education. The project was held during September 2009 and February 2010 and integrated an E-learning training course for art teachers , seminars, students’ visits to the museum,  students’ studio work carried out in schools and an exhibition of students’ work. The topic of the work was the study of a Portuguese nineteen century painter called Henrique Pousão.

INSEA  CONGRESS 2010Dear Colleague,
The InSEA (International Society of Education through Art) European Congress 2010 will offer you an artistically and intellectually inspiring meeting in a fascinating context. The main purpose of the InSEA Society is the encouragement and advancement of creative education through art and crafts in all countries and the promotion of international understanding. Focusing on vital present and future issues and challenges of art education, the scientific and artistic programme of the congress is designed to improve dialogue from diverse perspectives and to offer a platform for generating new visions and methods for the research and practice of art education at all levels and sectors.

ImageAPECV is a Portuguese art teachers association affilliated in the International Society for Education through Art (InSEA) and founding member of the Rede Ibero Americana de Educacion Artistica.   APECV works in the area of arts education providing learning opportunities  through arts education and community  arts  projects based  raising  awareness of art education potential for education to values, citizenship, sustainable development and social cohesion.  The association edit the Journal Imaginar    , organise  atworks competitions, congresses, seminars and workshops on art education for art educators, teachers and broader audiences.  And also integrate  an inservice teacher training centre for continuous professional development offering courses for art educators. The association promotes the development of projects in the area of visual arts education , educational interchange practical projects , research projects and other international collaborations.

 

 
Greece-Portugal 2010

The Project Public Art and Art Education aims to create an  interdisciplinary team of professionals ( teachers, artists, researchers, educators and  cultural agents)  interested in issues of public art  as an educational resource in both formal and informal educational contexts. We intend to share existing research and practices through work meetings with experts in the area, to create strategies for learning through public art, focusing on environmental education.   And finally to disseminate  examples of educational practice using public art through  workshops for  schools in both countries.

Art educators; art specialists and classroom teachers from eight countries  participated   in this project. The research project was developed in Japan by Kinichi Fukumoto, professor of Dept. of Arts Education, Hyogo University of Teacher Education. The common lesson theme: “Creating Imaginative Lunch for a Foreign Friend” was implemented by art teachers in basic schools (primary and middle) in the following countries: Finland; Germany; Slovenia; Denmark; Japan; Philippines; Portugal and Turkey  during 2005 ( an article about the project waspublished in  vol 3, number 3 of the  International Journal of Education through Art)  by Kinichi Fukumoto .  Later on in 2007  the same lesson was recreated in  a middle school in Portugal  and in Turkey.

 
Ibero American Congress on Art Education

Instituto Politécnico de  Beja 2008

The congress was held in Portugal , it was organised by Portuguese and Spanish institutions ( APECV, CIEP Universidade de Évora and Universid de Huelva). The   participants were mainly art teachers, art education researchers, educators and cultural agents in  different art areas ( drama, music, visual arts, dance). 127from Portugal, 34 from Spain, 41 from Brazil, Uruguai (2) , Chile (1),  (1), Moçambique (1); Angola (1). In the on-line section there were contributions   from Brazil, México, Costa Rica, Portugal and  El Salvador. The conclusions of the congress are intended to have an impact upon our governmental political decisions about education, universities , teachers,  schools. They were sent to the relevant institutions in Spain, Portugal and Brasil and can be accessed in the Network: Rede Ibero Americana de Educacion Artistica 

 

 

 

 
InSEA congress 'Interdisciplinary Dialogues in Art Education

The 2006 international InSEA  congress 'Interdisciplinary Dialogues in Art Education’ was  held in Viseu-Portugal between 1-5 March 2006. It was intended to provide a platform for dialogue about arts education and society for questioning and evaluating ways in which arts are produced and taught. It was one of the most historically significant congresses hosted by the International Society for Education Through Art (InSEA). It was scheduled strategically to occur immediately prior a UNESCO World Arts Education Conference and facilitate interdisciplinary exchange through joint participation by representatives of the International Society for Education Through Art (InSEA); The International Society for Music Education (ISME) and The International Drama/Theatre and Education Association (IDEA). The convenors hoped it would facilitate meaningful debate about policy issues of mutual international concern.

 

One important outcome of the congress was the WWA Joint Declaration

Academic Exchange : Comparative study art education curriculum  in    Hong Kong and Portugal (December  2009)
